Has anyone heard of this company?

Executive Sports?I have a preliminary interview later on today with them. It's an entirely new field for me, so I am at a loss, but really wanting a career change!

Is it sports related marketing and event planning?I haven't heard of them specifically, but a friend had a job interview with a sports marketing company - thought the phone interview went awesome, loved the job description, etc...and then went to "shadow" them for a day and the job turned into selling tickets to sporting events door to door.  There are a lot of shady companies out there!  Hope it is a good one though!

I am pretty sure it's a scam. If you read their postings it sounds like a pyramid scheme/cold sales, etc.

Sorry to tell you - but ditto Nuelsi.  More than likely it will be something like door to door sales.

I was going to say the same thing as KR. I had a friend who interviewed with a similar company ("sports marketing") and she was asked to spend a day in the field, basically working for free.  It was door to door sales. She never went back. This could be different, but be careful!

Ah, I bet those are who come to our work and try to sell us all Pirate tickets. They are relentless & annoying. If you still decide to go, go into it with very open eyes & ears.

Sorry but ditto other posts. I went on one of these interviews right out of college and they called me about 4 hrs after the interview and asked me to shadow someone for the day. I never went, total waste of time.

My FI had an interview with them. It is exactly like a pyramid scheme. He hated them and what the job entailed. They were super shady and he couldn't wait to get out of there! So, I would tell you to be careful!

dvansky-was it the exact same company? cuz if that is the case, i am not even going to waste my damn time! i have to go to my parents house to take care of the cats while they're away, and i have other plans on my agenda for today, and i have no patience to waste my time on interviews with shady people. i did that a handful of months ago, and i regretted losing those 2.5 hours to a company that i would never work for. listening to some douchebag tell a group of us that he makes over 1 mill a year (handing over a copy of his W2 to prove it) was not my cup of tea. i don't need to go throught that again!

Someimes it's easy to spot them by the way they describe the job. no experience needed, Training offered, Management training, Usually they say specifaically things like Pay through "Market sharing" and they are very quick to avoid the "SALES" which some of us that aren't afraid of sales wouldn't be turned off by but they aoid it by saying "marketing" when most of them don't know what marketing means. They say a lot of things like "On site marketing" Always using verbage like High energy environment, positive workplace and positive atmosphere.just a few tips from a gal that got sucked in several years back :)

i'm so so glad i thought to ask you girls-you have helped me from wasting my time! thank you thank you thank you!i was actually a lil tipped off by the advertisement itself, it was placed in the customer service category and titled event planner. but when i got an email response from them today, it seemed very robotic. i didn't know the company until i got that email. i called them to make sure that i made an effort. but i'm glad i found out what the deal was before i went over there. whew!
