Large households on the envelope

How do you fit families with four kids' names on the envelope? And what if they're not married -- 6 name lines followed by the address?? Can you just put "and family" on the envelope and specify names on the RSVP card?

Two unmarried adults and four little children. I'm not sure all those names will fit anywhere ;-) but separate invitations don't seem appropriate.

For a friend of ours (one of the GMs) with 5 kids, we just put the Smith Family. I know I opened myself up to some confusion, but should there be any misunderstanding, I can just call and apologize as well as clarify. I'm pretty sure the wife and kids are staying home though, based on what he has said to my FI.

Thank you both! So first-name only with the kids is okay, If I went the "kid, kid, kid, kid" route?
