Wedding Invitations & Paper

XP Response card postage for out of country guests.

I am sitting here putting together my invitations and applying stamps to the outer envelope and the response cards when it hits me... ummm I have some guests invited who live in Europe and Canada-- what is the stamp situation for their response cards??  Since they are sending the card from their home country will a US stamp even work from their country here??? I just started thinking about this and I thought I'd ask on here to see what people have done?  Thanks in advance.

Re: XP Response card postage for out of country guests.

  • We had some out of country guests as well.  We went to the post office and they told us to leave the stamp of the RSVP card since a US stamp would not work on it
  • I didn't even think of this!  I am so glad you posted this OP!  I have invited guests from Poland and Italy and would have put a US stamp on my replay cards like a dummy!

Scogs- I'm glad my post will be useful to you and you can learn from my mistakes.  I had actually already sealed and mailed two european invites before I started thinking about the stamp situation and made this post but those were sent to very close friends so I was able to email them and tell them what happened.  The other invites are to extended family I have never met so that's why I wanted to see what others had done.

You can purchase return stamps that will work from most countries at the post office.

We enclosed a note asking them to email RSVP, though.

Just let them use their own stamps.  It's not that big a deal.

</div><div>Not sure about the Eurpoean ones, but I know up here in Canada we can buy American stamps. So maybe go to the post office and see if you can buy Canadian stamps? We can purchase them in any denomination, so that my be an option for you.</div>
