help with wording please...

We are just proofing our invites (literally printing within the hour...) and I am wondering whether 'two thousand and ten' should be 'Two thousand and ten' or 'Two Thousand and Ten', or no capitals at all...

Of course, I am doing this with two men, both of whom say 'who cares'...sigh...

As of right now it reads (except there is an ampersand between the names that doesn't copy properly on here):

Thanks ladies...

Together with their families,

Mareika L*****************

Graham R******** W******* S************

invite you to join in the

celebration of their marriage

on Saturday the sixteenth of October,

Two Thousand and Ten

at three forty-five.

Reception to follow

Thanks ladies...

Re: help with wording please...

  • I'd remove:
    'on' before Saturday

the 'and' is not necessary in Two thousand ten.  I believe just the first word is capitalized.

The timing I believe should be 'At three quarters after three o'clock' and not three forty-five.

  • Okay...so new version reads as follows...do I want the comma after marriage since I took out the 'on'? - TIA

  • I dont think you need any comma's in there. Just my opinion
  • I'd say "at quarter before four" maybe? It's a weird time. You can't do four? Or three thirty?
    my read shelf:
Meredith's book recommendations, liked quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)

  • No punctuation at the end of a line.

And, quarter hours are awkward, both to type and for guests to get it right.  I'd go for half after three o'clock or four o'clock, personally.

Dresses may be easier to take in than let out, but guest lists are not. -- kate51485
  • Aw crap Squirrly I only just saw your message now...sigh...they couldn't just be perfect could they!  Boo!  The period on the end is there...oh well...

I know the quarter to thing is annoying but we can't really play around with the timing of the ceremony...hopefully it will be fine...

thanks for all the help ladies...
