Wedding Invitations & Paper

Why are programs necessary?

I've never been to a wedding where they had them.

Re: Why are programs necessary?

  • They aren't necessary at all.   However, if you have a complicated ceremony, you may wish to include information so your guests can follow along.

We aren't having an overly complicated ceremony, but are including readings and prayers that have responses.  Some of our guests will be familiar with the readings/prayers and responses, and others will not.  We know that not everyone will want to particpate in the response part, but would like to give our unfmailiar guests the option to participate by providing them the readings/prayers and responses so they can at least follow along or join in if they wish.

Some people also like to use wedding programs as keepsakes.

They don't have to be expensive.  I've designed our programs using Microsoft Word and will just take them to Kinkos.

  • They aren't, so if you don't want to do them, don't feel bad about not having them.

  • Ditto that they aren't necessary.  In addition to helping guests follow the ceremony, you can also name all the people in your wedding party and your mothers and grandmothers who might be escorted.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
