yes, another invite wording post

We will be having a religious ceremony with my parents mainly hosting (but FI's parents are also chipping in). I don't list either my last name nor FI's since our parents are listed before us.

Do I need to have the year in there? The whole share in the joy thing... should it be worded differently?

Mr. and Mrs. Rodney ________ together with Mr. and Mrs. Gregory __________ request the honour of your presence to share in their joy at the marriage of their children Brianna Laree and Christopher Lee on Friday, the eleventh of June,  two thousand ten at seven in the evening Nazareth Chapel 12345 Chapel Address Saint Paul   Reception immediately following ceremony Tour Players Championship Golf Course Blaine *The layout and font is similar to above--part with the reception will be a few sizes smaller and left justified while the actual invitation will be right justified, larger, but basically as you see it above. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

It's really wordy.  I'd remove "to share in their joy."  It's not part of the traditional invitation wording, it seems obvious and silly, and it just makes it extra wordy.

Add "o'clock' after "seven" in the time line.

If the reception is not at the same location, all of the info should be on a separate reception card.  Not on the bottom of the invite.  If you want to left justify something, move the location information over there.

Thanks, Squirrly. I was feeling iffy about the share in the joy thing, so that'll be gone. 

Good idea with the location/left justified thing. I'll do that too.

No problem.  I just can't get into extra words on invites.  Programs - yes.  Invites. . . not so much.

The year is not strictly necessary, since it should be obvious to your guests when they get the invites.  However, I think it's nice to include the date because you or your parents might save copies of the invitations for posterity.
