Wedding Invitations & Paper

17yo guest living with parents..diff last name

My FI's younger brother (in the WP, if that makes any difference) lives with his mom and stepdad. FI's mom took her husband's last name, so younger brother has his dad's last name.

How do I write this in the address? I feel weird writing "and family" (which I am doing for others, since I didn't find the inner envelopes until this morning, halfway through my list and I got postage according to the weight without the inner envelopes) because he is 17, not 4.
Do I do it anyways?
Or should I put:

Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Stallone
John Doe
address
address

Or should I just give him his very own invitation?

  • I think I would just simplify my life and give him his own invitation.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

I see nothing wrong with writing "and family". He is still a minor. That said, his last name doesn't really make a difference. If you feel he deserves a separate invitation, as he is almost an adult, send him one.

The words "and family," should never be used on a wedding invitation.   The guests need to be invited by name.

That said, he doesn't need his last name on the envelope if he's invited with his parents.
  • I think you can list him by first name or by his full name on an inner envelope if you are using one.  Or you can send him his own invitation.
  • I'm sending out a separate invitation for the person in a similar situation.
