Picture Printing

As far as printing our wedding pictures, who has the best quality? we are looking to get some good quality prints to frame for us. I know one will be a 16 X 20. I have a gift card for shutterfly, they seem quite pricy, just wondering if it is worth it to spend the extra money to go with them? I would spend the money if the quality was better then others. I'm willing to order online and have them shipped, or pick up from a local store, just want the best quality. Thanks in advance!!

Re: Picture Printing

  • I usually really like shutterfly; we ordered our save the dates from them and they turned out great, but last year for Christmas when FI's side of the family had portraits done and I ordered prints I had trouble. I ordered an 8x10 of FI and myself and the top of his head was cropped off. I meant to send it back and request another but never got around to it. I would suggest maybe ordering your smaller prints from them since you have a gift card anyway and use someone else for the larger ones? I have never had a problem with a picture kiosk at Wal-Mart or Sam's Club.

  • Our photographer gave us a signed release statement saying he was allowing us to have our pictures printed by an outside service. You will need this no matter where you go for printing, as they won't print professional photos without it.

I had our photobooks and enlargements done by Costco. I was EXTREMELY pleased with their work. I downloaded the photos onto my computer, and placed my order that way for both the photobook and enlargements. I then picked up the pictures and books at the local store when they were done. They have some really neat options for edging pics, having them done in sepia or black & white, etc. Other photo services may have this available, but Costco is all I've used.
  • Check out mpix.com, the paper and print quality is excellent.  You can sign up for email promo codes, or like them on facebook for coupons.  One sale they had a few weeks ago was 50% off prints, which made the price $0.09 each.  I ordered a 16x20 print for our bedroom, it looks amazing.  Highly recommended!

I've ordered family pics from mpix and snapfish from the same shoot and both were good, but snapfish's colors were brighter.
  • ill check out mpix.com
im debating between like shutterfly or mpix, something where id wait for the prints to come in the mail, and something like walmart or walgreens, id rather do walmart or something local so i can pick them up asap cuz im anxious but if ordering online is going to get me a better quality, id wait for them to come in the mail....
  • snapfish does have an option to pick up local at walgreens - the website would tell you which were available products. It is slightly  more to pickup at walgreens but when you factor in not paying for shipping.
