invites - extra envelope?

hello:

I am using the invitation kits from michaels to DIY.  My kit comes with textured linen and purple paper invitations, envelopes, rsvp info.

Do i need to mail the whole invitation in a separate envelope? If so, do i attempt to match the paper texture/color or do i just purchase a nice paper envelope?

TIA!

Do you mean your invite has an RSVP envelope and an outter envelope, but no inner envelope?  If so, that's slightly less formal, but I don't think you have to go to significant effort/expense to find another envelope.

Squirrly: Some of the kits at Michaels do not include a mailing envelope. They have a seal and send folder.

I would worry that the folder would come open even with the seal and inserts would get lost. I'd go with a mailing envelope. White is fine!

okay thanks - i plan to buy a mailing envelope and just get a nice white sturdy envelope.  The kit came with RSVP card and envelope, invitation, ribbon and envelope.  And i agree with you guys that it looks less formal and it may open.  On the hunt for cute 6x9 envelopes!

All invitations don't have inner and outer envelopes.  I wouldn't buy extra envelopes to send them out.
