Wedding Invitations & Paper

Is this tacky for a save-the-date?

So, I know not everybody does a save-the-date. But I would like to, However, I can't find them at a good price. We're on a budget for the wedding, and paying over a dollar apiece for 150 of them, isn't really on our budget. So, I was looking around online, and on vistaprint, you can have 250 cards (business cards) made, and you can put whatever picture and wording on them however you like. And it cost roughly around 10 dollars. Do you think it's tacky to hand those out? Any other ideas?

  • I did the same thing except mine came from 1-2-3 print for $4.99.  We went to Staples (an office supply store) and purchased business card magnets.  They have adhesive one one side.  You peel off the backing, stick on the business card and you have a really nice save the date magnet.  It only took us about 90 minutes to do 100 of them (2 bridesmeaids and I) and the total cost was around $25.00!  Very budget firiendly and everyone has given us glowing compliments!
  • Thanks thats a really good idea for the magnets!
  • If you sign up for an account on VistaPrint you get coupons like every day.  I ordered my STDs from there and used the 100 free postcards.  I also ordered magnets from them so that people could put the postcard on the fridge!  You can print on the front and back of these postcards and just mail them in envelopes.  They turned out great and were super cheap (only paid for the envelopes)!

  • I also did the 100 free postcards at vistaprint. You can do 2 separate orders to get 200 if you need (although you only need to send 1 per couple, so if you have 150 guests, you might be fine with just 100). They turned out much better than I thought they would. The front is in color, the back is black and white. I put hotel, transportation and airport info on the back. I ended up paying about $5 for shipping. Postcard stamps are cheaper than regular stamps.

  • I think the business cards would be too small and easy to lose.  I did the Vista Print 100 postcards for free, just paid shipping, for our save the dates.  They worked out great and looked great too.

  • Vista Print post cards are the way to go. Get your coupons and get them for free! And, they are fun to play around with to make them look really custom.Laughing
