Wedding Invitations & Paper

Wedding Invites Printed in Asia??

Has anyone printed wedding invites in China - I think it might be cheaper, but I still want a good quality printer.

Thanks!

  • I definitely do not think you're going to save any money by having your invitations printed in China, and then shipped to America.

    Use an *American* company.
  • Do you really want your invitations from someone who does not speak the language and makes $2.00 an hour?  This is part of the reason we are in the state that we are in as a country.  Keep the money in our four walls.  Not only should you buy American, but you should find a local small business and help them stay afloat.

  • While I think it's fine for you to get the best deal possible, I wouldn't have invitations printed from a non-English-speaking place.  That could just turn into a big problem, particularly if a human being edits it.  No, shipping won't be more (might even be less) because of how shipping works internationally (you pay the home country's rate of postage, which in China is ridiculously cheap since it's state-subsidized to help increase their exports), but you won't know about the quality you're getting either.

While I disagree that you are obligated to support a local business - afterall, they're going to be pretty expensive and may be out of your budget - I do think that for this one thing staying American is going to make you happier with the final product.  If you don't have a large invite budget check out vistaprint and sign up for their emails.  They send deals all the time.

  • The general consensus around here is don't try to save money but using Chinese companies.  It usually bites you in the behind.

That is a common misconception.  I had my invitations done by a designer/local business and she was very competitively priced, not to mention the excellent customer service you receive when working with a local company.

<div>I'm not saying they're all going to be out of budget but many are.  I don't think OP is obligated to use a small business just by virtue of it being a small business, even if it IS competitively priced.</div>
