Wedding Invitations & Paper

Any Mac Users?

Hey All!

Just ordered a sample of our possible invitations from cardsandpockets.com just to see the colors, cardstock... the usual because I really want to design my own invitations mostly because I can't find yellow invitations that I don't hate.

My only problem is every template or idea I've seen has been done using a PC and I'm a Mac girl all the way. Just wanted to know if any one else was using a Mac for their invites and if you have any program sugesstions.

Thanks

  • PC here.  Some files convert.  What software do you have to use?

  • I designed mine on Illustrator.  Honestly, most of the design software that people use is both Mac and PC compatible, so as long as you have the program the template uses, the platform shouldn't really matter.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • FI is currently designing ours... at least designing different ideas for us to decide on. He uses Pixelmator and Photoshop for Mac, but I think he is doing everything from scratch and isn't using a template.
  • I have Photoshop and this thing called Quarkxpress. I also have some of the Microsoft office (Word, Excell, Powerpoint & Entourage). Considering getting another program to use (if I can use it to create Invites, Thank Yous, Programs etc)
  • Illustrator all the way.

  • I did the template in my bio in Publisher.  If you can get that, it's easy to work with, and - free templates in my bio!  :)  If not, let me know, and I'll see if I can do one in Photoshop for you.  It's just more timeconsuming.

  • Do you have the rest of the Adobe suite, or just Photoshop?  Adobe often comes with Illustrator and InDesign, which are really excellent design and layout tools.

  • I have a Mac and I've been able to do everything I need in PPT or Word. I'm incompetent in Photoshop, so I didn't even try that route. PPT would probably be the easiest way to design your invites if you have to do it your self without a template, it's easier to manipulate than Word in my opinion.

I bought the Microsoft Office pack instead of iWork, so I can't help you there, sorry.
  • AKG_JGJ- I sent your a PM about the invites I'd love to see how you did them!
  • Sadly Publisher doesn't exist for a Mac and it ticks me off!

    I did mine in Illustrator.

Never used iWork, sorry.  I have Microsoft Office for my computer.
  • Etsy is sort of like an enormous, online, classy flea market/art gallery for handmade goods.  Individual crafters/artisans can create a "store" through etsy and sell what they make.  I've bought jewelry, ties & pocketsquares, hair flower pins, that dahlia graphic, and some other odds and ends I can't think of right now off etsy.  Just go to www.etsy.com, type in what you're looking for (I used "dahlia digital graphic" when I searched for the dahlia) and browse through the results.

Sellers get feedback ratings from previous purchasers, sort of like ebay.

And, if you can't find what you want, you can put in an alchemy request - describe what you want, and the sellers can bid on it.
