Friday the 13th wedding wording

Hi again :)

Our wedding is Friday July 13. My fiance does not want to word the invitation the formal way "Friday, the Thirteenth of July" because he doesn't want it to clearly state the phrase Friday the 13th.

He prefers it to say "Friday, July Thirteenth"  and on the next line "Two Thousand and Twelve".

The wedding is formal. Which wording is better or is either ok? I prefer the more formal wording.

Thanks!

Re: Friday the 13th wedding wording

  • No matter which way you say or write it, it's still saying your wedding is on Friday the 13th and your guests will make the connection.  I prefer the "Friday, the thirteenth..." wording for appearance when printed.
  • I would side-eye it far more if it was obvious you were trying to make it less obvious that you were getting married on Friday the 13th.  It is just a date and if your wedding and invitations are formal, stick with the proper format.
