Wedding Invitations & Paper

Addressing an invite..

I have a friend who is getting married the week after us. We are going to address her invitation with her maiden name, of course, but she also has a two year old daughter. Her fiance isn't the father of this child and I'm almost 100% (though admittedly, I could be wrong) that the girl would have had my friend's last name on her birth certificate and not her birth father's.  Would it be safe to address the invite to: Jane Doe, John Smith and Suzie Doe? Or should I leave off "Suzie's" last name since I'm unsure of what it actually is and address it: Jane Doe, John Smith and Suzie.

I suppose I could ask her but that seems a bit awkward...

Thanks in advance!

  • I would address the envelope:

Ms. Jane Doe and Miss Suzie Doe
    Mr. John Smith

[QUOTE]Why not list "& Family" to denote the child if you'd like and just take away the politics of it.

<div>"And Family" includes not only the child, but cousin John, Aunt Margaret, and Great Grandma Ruth. </div>

Not true at all... I discussed this with my calligrapher and my invitation person. It speaks to the people who are listed and their immediate family of any kids related and if the kids are married, their significant others.
