Accomodation card wording

Ok, I've been messing with wording for 4 days now and I'm loosing it! I was going through and proof reading everything and we used one of the wordings from the invite samples and it reads, "A block of rooms has been reserved at the following location" is that right? or is it "have been reserved?" I'm country, lol, so I know I don't have the best proper grammar anyway, but I can't decide on this one because when I say it the way it is on the sample it just doesn't sound right. Thanks in advance! Embarassed

It's "a block of rooms has been reserved....".  Basically, the has/have is determined by the subject, 'block'.  It's singular and therefore gets the singular verb.
  • Agree with PP.  Also, Accommodation is spelled with 2 c's and 2 m's.

Thank you - I was also going to point this out.  I once saw a $26 invitation sample and 'accommodation' was spelled wrong.  I hope they didn't send them out like that.
