Wording for card where reception happens at a specific time

I'm trying to figure out the correct wording for our reception card.  The reception does not immediately follow the ceremony so I need to put the time it starts.  Does anyone have examples of wording they can share?

Also, should I indicate on an insert in the invitation the options folks will have for the time in between ceremony and reception?  We're providing a hospitality room at the hotel where guests can gather (90% of guests are OOT and the hotel is conveniently located en route between church and reception venue).  Do we mention that on the invite, or just point guests to further info on our website?

TIA for any suggestions!

Re: Wording for card where reception happens at a specific time

  • We don't have a reception insert because it's immediately following at the same location.  Ours says:
    "Dinner, Drinks, and Dancing
    Immediately Following"
just before the location of both events.  It would be easier for you to have a reception insert, most likely.  That would read something like this:

    Cocktails and appetizers
    immediately following the reception
    Hotel Name
    Hotel Address

    Dinner, Drinks and Dancing
    seven o'clock in the evening
    Reception Site Name
    Reception Address

I would also include both bits of info in your programs the day of, just in case.

And - kudos for planning something for the gap between the ceremony and reception.

  • That wording makes a lot of sense!  And that's a great idea to add it to the schedule of the day's events... I haven't even gotten around to thinking of the programs yet... eek!

Thanks, yeah, it's not a long gap (about an hour) but we definitely don't want our guests at a loss for what to do!  I was really happy to hear both FI's and my parents suggest doing a hospitality room, and since most everyone will be staying at the hotel and it's right on the way, it seemed a natural solution.

  • Thanks danieliza!  We'll probably do coffee and tea in the hospitality suite since a cocktail hour will start the reception, but there is also a tavern at the hotel too in case folks want to get something more substantial in the interim.
