No save the date card

Hi.. We are having a small beach wedding in Hawaii. We are only inviting 6 families who are close. Do I have to send out the save date card or can I just mail out the invitation?

If you choose not to send STDs, make sure everyone knows the date.  If the families are close, they probably aready know.

You can also email your Save the Date if you're okay being more informal about it; I found some cute (and free) designs here and am considering saving myself the postage!
