Outrageous Postage

I just took one of my invitations to the post office to see how much postage was going to be and the lady told me $1.39 an invitation!! And thats not including the RSVP card postage!  I don't know if the lady was for real or just being mean to me because she kept ranting on and on about brides these days and thier irregular inviations.  She had to slip it through this hole thing four times before it stuck on the bow and she declared in a "first class package" and not a letter!  Is anyone else paying this much for postage?  This is what inviations I got, I just dont think it should be that much.....

Re: Outrageous Postage

  • make sure the post office you are going to is actually a POSTMASTER, not just an annex, they can be different prices.

  • I have no idea about the costs but I do love your invitations. =)

  • Yep! Mine cost $1.39 and they are putting the "first class" stamp on them. I feel it is a bit high as well, especially since another post office said they would be $.081 or something, but I would rather err on the side of caution. We're going with the $1.39.

  • Ours are only 61 cents - and I'm taking to a 2nd PO on Saturday just to get a second 'opinion'.

  • They're really pretty - but extra ribbon and multiple layers can add up.

The Post Office needs business but it's not like they get to choose how much something costs.

And don't forget - you should bring two invitiations to mail just in case any are slightly different in weight.
  • I just did the same thing and mine was $1.39 too!  Outrageous!  I just had to send one out real quick to an aunt who wants the invite to make something special for our wedding.  Not sure what, maybe frame it or something, but anyway, I had them put a stamp on it there…YUCK!  It was the bar coded stamp WITH the price right on it…by then it was all over and I couldn’t take it back.  She won’t mind, like I said I had to send her one real quick so she could work on some project for a gift for us.  But how am I going to send out the rest?  I don’t want to over spend on postage, but I don’t want those ugly HUGE stamps on my pretty invites
