Wedding Invitations & Paper

Shower invite wording? SERIOUSLY? LOL!!

I'm trying my best to stay out of all the family drama that goes with a wedding. I have a question on wording. My sister & MOH are designing my shower invites together. They orginally had it as hosted by: bridal party. Then my future-stepmother in law (my FI's mom passed away 2 years ago) wanted her first name listed next to it, since she's helping. That looks stupid, in my opinion. I just don't like it. lol. I normally don't care about minute little details, BUT my mom is not remotely involved (we don't speak) in my shower. So, I feel like putting my future SMIL's name draws more attention to the fact that my mom isn't involved.

What do you suggest for the wording? Thank you!

Just have your hostesses list everyone by name.

Hosted by: Mandy's Sister, Mandy's MOH, and FSMIL

Trust me, none of your shower guests will even notice.

    Yeah, it would be fine.

    You could do:

Hosted by: Mandy's Bridal party and Sue Johnson (<--FSMIL's name)

    I've also seen it as
Hosted by: Ashley, Mary, Sarah, Christine, Jane, Lisa, and Sue.

It's really not a big deal.
  • I'd either leave off all the hostess' names or include them all without listing relationships to you.

[QUOTE]I don't think I've ever gotten a shower invite with the host listed on it specifically.

Neither have I. I have always just assumed the person whose house it is at is the hostess. Of course, with showers at restaurants and stuff, I realize this won't work. Also, I must say I really don't ever CARE who is hosting it, and I judge people who think they need their names on these things to indicate they are hosting.

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Once for a shower I attended I did need to ask the hostess a question in advance, so I appreciated having her name. It would have been awkward not to in that situation. But the invitation didn't specifically indicate any type of relationship she had with the bride. Having that pointed out would have seemed odd.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Shower invite wording? SERIOUSLY? LOL!! : See, I assume that the person who is receiving the RSVPs is the "point person" to call and ask questions about the shower.

You do, but I tend to find that assuming ends up with the wrong results.
  • My in-laws are hosting my shower - it's a family tradition thing I guess...The shower invite says Hosted by The _____ Family. The PP who had first names listed is the suggestion I'd go with. I've hosted showers before and left my name off and have put it on. Never really gave it much of a thought, nor do I think most people.
