Morning Glory Inn Reviews & Destination Wedding Help

Looking for some opinions/reviews regarding weddings and receptions held at the Morning Glory Inn. I'm looking for a nice venue for a small (30-40) person wedding - would prefer to have it on a Friday evening in late Spring 2010 with a cocktal and heavy hor d'oevres reception.Thoughts? Also, if we can't find the perfect place in Pittsburgh, we are considering a beach wedding. Is there a "go to" Pittsburgh destination wedding planner? Thanks in advance!

From what I've heard, I understand that the owners can be difficult to work with at the Morning Glory Inn.  Maybe someone else has personal experience with them though.Phipps may be a good place to look at. Or there's that Art Gallery on the South Side - can't remember the name - anyone remember?

Google "Morning Glory Inn negative reviews" and you'll have your answer!  I can also send you a knottie's personal experience there if you e-mail me - pghknotties at gmail dot com

I think if you google it you'll get some pretty bad reviews.  No personal experience but I'm not sure I've ever seen a positive review of the place.

I like the Society for Contemporary Craft in the Strip for smaller events. There's also the Inn at the Mexican War Streets in the North Side.

I have also read bad reviews about the Morning Glory Inn.I recommend the LeMont Restaurant in Mt. Washington. You get that beautiful view of the city and it's a 5-star restaurant.  They can handle large or small weddings.  They have been great to work with while coordinating my daughter's upcoming wedding reception.Bill is the banquet manager.  Here's the website:http://www.lemontpittsburgh.com/LeMont/index.htmI have also heard good reviews about the Hyeholde.Their website is: http://www.hyeholde.com/

We also looked into the Morning Glory Inn but was scared away by the horrible reviews.  We decided on The Parador Inn on Western Avenue.  It's a gorgeous mansion with a beautiful courtyard.Another poster recommended the Inn at the Mexican War Streets, but since they never returned my call (or my mother's), I'm assuming they don't do weddings.

Thank you for all of the responses! I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get back on and read them all. I have since done my share of Morning Glory Inn research and OMG their reviews are horrible! Whew - I don't know how they keep that place in business.So...long story short, I stumble upon the Mansion at Maple Heights in Shadyside. It was fairly recently opened as a B&B and it looks like they specialize in events/weddings. We have an appointment to see it next week. Anyone have feedback?I would also like to visit the Parador Inn. It looks beautiful but I'm a bit concerned about the bad neighborhood and the safety of my guests. The website for the Inn on Mexican Wars Streets doesn't look like it's been updated since 2007. The Ancathus restaurant is closed too. Maybe they changed ownership?
