Re: DIY invite SUCCESS STORIES!

  • I don't have a success story quite yet, but I'm almost there.  I originally wanted to go with an Etsy seller, but she went MIA Frown

I ordered invites, RSVP cards, and Accomodations card from Zazzle (you may also want to look at VistaPrint, or even Costco if you have a membership there).  I then went to Paper Source--I heard here (or maybe on the DIY board?) that they were having a sale.  I got some awesome pocketfolds that were half off, and also bought envelopes, a palm tree stamp, and ink.  I went to Michael's and got some ribbon (on clearance!) to tie the pocketfolds together.  I'm in the process of assembling everything now, but they look really nice! They don't look as nice as some of the pocketfolds as I've seen other brides make, but considering I'm not creative and awful at DIY, I think they look pretty darn good.

To be honest, I really had no idea what I was going to do when I went to the Paper Source, but I just wandered around and found things that I thought would look really nice.  I think this might be a good strategy--just to get some ideas.  Then, I would recommend seeing if you can find the materials on sale and shop around.  I'm in a rush so I just bought things w/o shopping around, but if you have time, you can look online and finds things cheaper. And while the invites from Zazzle are very plain, the pocketfolds really dress them up!

    GL with designing!

  • I've been working on mine today and so far so good!

It's taken almost 7 hours but I'm very pleased with the results.  The only item i'm struggling with is the invitation envelope.  I would like to print the guests address on the envelopes but for some reason I can't get them aligned...but maybe I'm just tired! lol :)

I bought my kits from Michael's - Brides by gartner studios :)
  • Templates and screenshots in my bio.  Photos to be added soon.

I don't have and photos yet, but will probably tomorrow.

  • I just finished ours a day or two ago, and put a bunch of photos in my bio, under "Paper."  They're all DIY by me.  Nothing Halloween about them, but I'm pretty happy with them.

  • We DIYed pocketfolds.  I don't have pics, but they were pretty easy and turned out great (IMHO).
  • We are DIY ours from Michaels. We started them and are working on them a little at a time, so there isnt so much to do in the end.

I'm making my own too!  No pics yet, but hopefully I'll have something up in my bio this weekend.  So far, so good!  I did the pocketfolds from scratch using the instructions I found in these other brides' blogs:
