Invitation wording

Hello-  My mom said she wanted her name on the invitation (not just Mr. and Mrs. James XXX).  Is the following how I would word that?
Mr. and Mrs. James and Joan XXX
Request the honour of your presence
at the nuptial mass uniting their daughter
Ellen Mary XXX
and
Stephen Joseph YYY
son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Deborah YYY
In the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony
Friday, the thirtieth of July

  • The address of the venue shouldn't be on the invite.  Just the name and the town
  • I always though that Ms. Joan XXXX and Mr. James XXXX indicated divorced parents using the same last name.  Or, does this wording work for that situation as well ?
  • MyLoverly- that's what I thought as well- instead of my parents being happily married for 50 years this month! And FI parents married for 35 years this year!

My mom said she thinks that "James and Mary" will be fine- esp. since the invitation itself is formal.   I just want to get these ordered!!

    Thanks for all your help!

  • The way you have it is fine or you could do it with just first names (but then mom's name is first so Jane and Joe, not Joe and Jane).
