Handwritten Invitations

I was thinking about writing my own wedding invitations. Am I crazy for wanting to do this and what does everyone think about it?

Re: Handwritten Invitations

  • depends on how many you have to do, it could be sweet if you have nice handwriting, I would appreciate getting a handwritten invite, but it might be impractical if you are planning on something like 200 formal invites.

  • How much time do you have and how many invites will you need? There are beautiful fonts out there, utilize the and put your time, effort and money towards something else :-)
  • If you have a small guest list and are not having a black or white tie formal wedding, it is very traditional to do so.  However, so many people are unfamiliar with this that they may mistake your wedding for being much more casual than reality.  It certainly can be done, but I, personally, wouldn't.

  • As usual, I ditto Squirrly.

Why not just hand-address the envelopes?
  • Why not hand-write one invitation, scan it and then print them. Then you get your handwriting without all the work.

No, no, no! Horribly improper.  Either have them all properly printed, or handwrite them all.  But please don't do this.
