AHR STD and invite wording

FI and I are getting married in March here in Chile and are planning a party to celebrate with my friends and family in California in July. I'd like to send out STDs soon since I know a lot of people will be starting to think about summer plans.

How can we best word things so that it's clear that we already got married? The majority of people know the plan, but I don't want anyone to think they're coming to our actual wedding. All I can think of is something like "Emily and FI are getting married in Chile in March, but we want to celebrate with you in California on July 24," and I don't love it. TIA.

Re: AHR STD and invite wording

  • Save the date wording is usually very simple, just:

    Save the Date!

    Emily
    and
    Emily's FI

    are getting married!

So for you, you could say "will be celebrating their wedding" instead of "are getting married".  Then at the bottom you could say something like "a private ceremony will be held in Chile in March 2010".  I think that would be clear enough for your guests.

  • Thanks, everyone. I just needed a little outside input on whether something like "celebrating the wedding" would be taken as a belated celebration or the wedding itself - don't want to give people false expectations!
