Wedding Invitations & Paper

When do I send out Invites?

I swear I've seen everything from 6 weeks to three months ahead of time on this website alone. So what's the appropriate timeline?

Re: When do I send out Invites?

  • We sent ours between the 6-7 week mark, and then RSVPs were due two weeks before.
  • Our wedding is March 20th and we sent ours out at the begining of January-because our wedding is right around Spring Break. We made the RSVPs due Feb. 12th to allow us time to call people who didn't respond. :)

  • I always like receiving an invite 2-3 months before the date. It gives me time to make sure that I can make all my arrangements. However, if you sent out STDs with details about hotels/location, you can wait till 6-7 weeks before. It also depends on how close to the date you want to be calling people who haven't sent back their RSVPs
  • 6-8 weeks before the wedding, with RSVPs requested 2 to 4 weeks before the wedding.

Dresses may be easier to take in than let out, but guest lists are not. -- kate51485
  • 6-8 weeks.  Any earlier and people won't be able to commit and will thus forget to RSVP; any later and you're not going to have enough time to get responses back, and people might not be able to come on short notice.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
