Hello!
For the last wedding I went to (it was out of state), I received a Facebook STD months before with a link to the couple's website. By the time I received the official invitation, I had already RSVP'd and made my travel plans. I felt the invitation was a waste of money and honestly it went straight into the trash.
Now it's my turn. I was planning on sending my invitation out 5-6 months before my wedding because 95% of my guests are out of town, many international, and many in the service. Plus my date is on a holiday weekend so I want to make sure people make plans early. I was planning on doing a photo invitation with two small magnets with the date and our wedding website on them. My logic is the invitation will serve as an invitation and a save the date in one.
Is that tacky? I know it's not proper etiquette, but in today’s age we just direct everyone to a website anyway so what's the purpose of a "formal invitation" if the "save the date" has all the information they need?
Thanks for your help!
