Wedding Invitations & Paper

Proof My Wording Please :)

Dr. Rodney XX YY dadlast and Dr. AA BB mommaiden

request the honour of your presence

at the marriage of their daughter

Sara AA dadlast

to

Keith GG HH

son of

Mr. and Mrs. EE FF HH

 On Saturday afternoon

 the thirteenth of November

two thousand ten

at three o’clock

Church Name

Church address spelled out
Minneapolis, Minnesota 55405

A note about my wording: parents are both MD's, but my mom has kept her maiden name professionally (but still married)

My questions:
(1) Should I include my last name because of my parents different names??
(2) If I am including a reception card do I need to put "reception to follow" or just leave it as is?

Thank's so much!

Re: Proof My Wording Please :)

  • If you're out with your parents, what is her last name at a restaurant?  That's the last name to use.

IF she has a different last name then her name goes first on the invitation.

    Also, the time is

"Saturday November thirteenth, two thousand ten
    at three o'clock

  • Thanks banana, she does have a different last name legally & professionally - socially she goes by my last name (dad's last name) - but when I asked her how she wanted it worded she wanted her professional name (so Dr. AA BB mommaiden); didn't like to be Drs. Rodney XX and AA dadlast.

Just to make sure I understand correctly then, it goes:

Dr. AA BB mommaiden and Dr. Rodney XX dadlast ...... ?

    Thanks for your feedback!!

    *thanks for the time correction!

If you're having a reception card there is no need to mention anything on actual invite. Card will say something like, "reception immediately following ceremony / place / address / town, state"  or  "reception dinner & dancing / blank time several hours later / place / address / town, state"
  • Yes, mom's name first!  :-)

Zip codes are strictly for the post office and don't need to be on the invite.
