Invitation Wording

The knot's suggestion for wording when the couple hosts in a house of worship is:
The honor of your presence
is requested at the marriage of
Heather Marie Smith
to Michael Francis Jacobson
Saturday, the seventeenth of May
two thousand and eight
at half past four in the afternoon

My question is if our wedding is going to be at 5:30 or 6 how do i word that? is 5:30 considered the evening or afternoon?

5:30 is the afternoon.  Evening starts at 6:00.

Technically you don't have to put afternoon or evening on the invitation, since it should be clear to guests that you are not getting married at 5:30 am

And you'd write it as "half after five o'clock" -- "past" is actually incorrect. Or "at six o'clock"

adding "in the afternoon" or "in the evening" is fine. You don't have to. I did on mine just to balance some lines.
