Wedding Invitations & Paper

XP: For those who DIY'd your invitations...and don't mind sharing

What was your total cost? What did that include? Do you feel that it was worth it? And, what was your process? I ask because I bought some Wilton invitations a while ago and now I don't feel as if they "fit" anymore, so I'm looking at alternatives. I'd like to hear from VP users as well. :)

  • Bride’s invitations from Michael’s crafts.

I used the %40 off coupon that is online every week.

    For 120 invites/response cards it was $89

I am printing them from home and they look incredible. The envelopes are decorated and the ribbon they come with are really cute. They have over 20 designs to choose from.  The stamps are going to cost me a lot but that is unavoidable. I am inviting 250 people so around $200 for invites and stamps feels like a steal to me.
A wedding is a party, not a performance. If at the end of the day you are married to the one you love, then everything went perfectly.
  • BTW I looked into vista print and it was much more expensive than the ones I used and I was unsure if they came with response cards.

  • I am using vistaprint. If you sign up for living social they have deals quite often for $10 for $50 worth of items. They also have so many free things and specials. If you sign up for their e-mails you will easily get 50% off all of your order, so combine that with the living social and you save so much! This includes the invitations, reply cards, and envelopes for both.

  • I am completely DIYing my invites (all stationery actually lol), and for everything -- everything being:

    1) invites with response cards, accomodation cards, maps
    2) thank-you cards
    3) favour tags
    4) cupcake flavour tags
    5) programs
    6) escort cards
    7) table numbers and menus

As well as 300 envelopes (making 100 invites), it is costing me approximately just under $300. I have not included stamp pricing, or double sided tape (or glue dots.. whatever I end up using) or my time, haha, but I think I'm getting a pretty good deal!

  • YES! We got 50 invitations for 8.98 on clearnace at Target! Those are just the invitation, the half size folder they slide in and then the envelope.
We also get an "invitation kit" that has invitations, response cards a little "folder" to hold the inivitation, response card and envelope. and then obv  the kit included mailing envelopes  and we got those 50 for 11.98.

yes i know we will have to buy an extra ink cartride or 2 but honesltly that will still make our invitations way inexpensive and cute too!!!

  • I bought my invitations and RSVP postcards from vistaprint. For 150 invites, I paid $17 for a groupon, and then an extra $20.

I'm putting them in pocket folds that I made myself (paid $30 for 150 sheets of cardstock)

I'm printing my own enclousers. I think I paid around $75 for 150 invites.

  • OP .. i did the wilton invites on my own at home.  they were really easy i got 100 invites, mailing envelopes, response cards and response card envelopes for $40- and then it took me about an hour to find the template online and type up my wording and print everything out.  Very simple and inexpensive... Good Luck
  • Template: I went to downloadandprint.com. They have awesome templates (a few free or you can pay for premium which I did because we used it for several other stationary needs and its only $25)
Paper: i went to paperandmore.com. Love there metalic card stock! (I got crimson red with matching envelopes) together that cost me around $65 for 100
Printing: USP. It's cheaper than buying ink cartigages. And my template prints two to a page so it was even cheaper. Then i used there straight edge cutter there for free.
I got about 95 invites under $100 and that includes 2 inserts and envelopes. Plus the postage cost (around $50)
It feels soooo good to get done with the DIY project!
