Envelope addressing question!

IHey all,

f I have an outer envelope and an inner envelope, where do I make it known that the person can bring a guest? For most couples, I know their significant other's name, or they are married. But for a few single friends who I know will want to bring a date, where do I put it?  Do I address it to Mr. Soandso and Guest? Or just Mr. Soandso and then put their name "and guest" on the inner envelope? I've seen it a few different ways, just wondering what the best way to go is!

Thanks a lot!!

  • I have a similar question on this topic. For our invitations we've chose to go with the seal and send type, which has no inner envelope to define that a single guest may bring someone.. Is it okay to address the invitation to Mr. Smith and Guest on the outside?? Or my MOH came up with an idea to just write the name (Mr.John Smith & Guest) on the response postcard so that they will know it's okay to bring a guest. Opinions??
  • Don't put & guest on the response card - you'll want them to tell you the guest's actual name.  You might need it for escort/place cards, or just to properly address them at the reception.  You can put it on the outside, but especially if it's just a few, I'd just call the guest and let them know they can bring a guest.
