Wedding Invitations & Paper

Help with a debate...please!

Fi says we should use address lables for our postcard STDs, I say we (I) need to handwrite the addresses like the invites will be.
Who is right? Can we use lables for the STDs?

Thanks!

  • I don't think it is as big of a deal for the STDs.  However, IMO that means that the handwriting didn't need to be as formal, so I just handwrote all 100 of mine.  It only took about 2 hours.  It'll probably just be faster to handwrite them then to input & format all the address into Word, print them out, and then stick them on each postcard.  (Or at least take the same amount of time)

[QUOTE]Personally I just really, really hate labels. Labels = junk mail to me.  I don't have anything against printing directly onto the postcard/envelope/etc. though

  • I think address labels are OK for the postcard STD.  I hand wrote the addresses on my postcard STDs but I only had 25 to do!
  • I just handwrote all of mine.  Personally, it seemed like less of a hassle than inputting all of the addresses into the template, going to buy the labels, and then printing them off.  By the time I would even drag myself to the office supply store to get the labels, I already had them done.  And I think it looks more personal.

  • Thanks ladies...It's nice to see others agreeing with me! Handwriting it will be! I don't get his resistance, it's not like he's going to be writing them out!
  • As a rule, all formal correspondence should be handwritten.

That said, we're going to use wrap-around labels for the save-the-dates and a calligrapher for our formal invitations.

Wrap-around labels have a more formal, non-junk-mail type of appearance and are definitely a time saver for me -- all my addresses are already in an Excel spreadsheet I can simply mail merge from anyway. I'm having my invitation designer make these so they'll match with the rest of our paper products.
