Rehearsal Dinner Invitations

My acutal rehearsal will be in the early afternoon with a dinner that night around 7.

I am confused as to what I should put on my invitations, because I don't want EVERYONE to come to the rehearsal....I just want those that HAVE to be at the rehearsal to be there, and the families and spouses to all attend the dinner.

What is the best way to word this on the invitation?

Thanks for all your help!

I wouldn't put it on your invitation.  I would wait until you get your RSVPs and then send them out to those who you'd like there.  For that you could ask for an email or phone RSVP.

My inlaws insisted that we put their invite to the rehearsal dinner in with the wedding invite and we had to have a seperate card printed which ended up being expensive because of course i wanted it to match the rest of the invitation suite.  In hindsight- I would have told them no on this one.

So you have to pick one or the other- seperate invite or seperate insert card thats set to only the people youd like to invite to the rehearsal dinner with your wedding invitations.  You don't want to put it on the main inviation and say anything about who is excluded or included because you're right- it seems a little rude and awkward.
  • We didn't send out Rd invites.  We just called everyone.  Do not put and RD info on the wedding invite, it doesn't belong there.

  • Do an invitation for the rehearsal dinner, and send that to everyone invited to the dinner, and those invited to the actual rehearsal. Include an insert with the rehearsal info  in those envelopes going to people who need to be at the rehearsal. Or just contact them separately to give them the details.
  • Ditto Leisel.
  • Thank you everyone! I think I will do what Leisel suggested. :)
