Poll & Question about bridal shower/work people

Ok so I am having a destination wedding. Our families are spread out all over the country and we decided to have the wedding in Florida because my grandparents are there and can't travel and also, it's FLORIDA :). My predicament is this... my mom and MOH keep asking me if I want a Bridal Shower and if I'd like to invite work people. The thing is, work people are not invited to the wedding, since it's in Florida and we are keeping it small and just with family. Is it considered rude to invite them to the shower but not the wedding or is this a nice gesture since the wedding is far away? I honestly have no clue! please help.

Re: Poll & Question about bridal shower/work people

  • I think what I've read is it's ok if its a work shower, which I think means its only work people or thrown by someone from work. And other than that you shouldn't invite people that aren't invited to the wedding.

  • If its a work shower and someone else is heading that up, then yes, its ok. If its a personal/family shower up there and you're thinking of inviting work people to that, I would say no.

When I got married previously, I had a shower in Miami because that's where my family is from but a lot of the family could not come to my wedding in Jacksonville. Since my mom was heading the shower, it did not feel strange to have people at the shower that were not at the wedding. It was a way for me to "celebrate" getting married with family who could not come to the wedding.

I dont know if that helped or not

  • Yeah, it's not okay to invite people to a shower if they're not invited to the wedding.

Like MamaBear said, if your coworkers themselves wanted to host one for you- then that's different.
