Dandruff blues

So I'm not ashamed to say my dandruff have completely taken over my scalp in the past three months and I don't know what to do other than use Head & Shoulders. My wedding is about 7 1/2 months away. I just really want to have a dandruff free scalp and hair!! Any helpful hints are truly welcomed!!!

Re: Dandruff blues

  •  Keep your scalp clean. There are several ways to naturally get rid of dandruff buildup. One way is to dilute cider vinegar with an equal amount of water and dab onto the scalp with a cotton ball. Witch hazel, undiluted, can be substituted for the cider vinegar and water if you have it on hand. If you prefer a method that doesn't sting, use undiluted coconut oil. Massage the coconut oil into the scalp with fingertips or a brush, then rinse the scalp with hot water---or as warm as can be tolerated---for up to 15 minutes. This method will keep your scalp dandruff free for up to 6 months. For more information check out this website http://www.ehow.com/how_2324219_cure-dandruff-naturally.html

  • I am a cosmetologist, Id recommend going to a professional salon for products! :D I have never heard of the method listed above. Also, if your using OTC products, it can cause build in your hair.

  • Had the same problem... I had to stop using head and shoulders though that was the problem. I switched my shampoo and it is a hundred times better. I'll never use head shoulders ever..
  • What shampoo do you use now that helps with the dandruff?

  • I know this may sound like a stupid question but are you SURE its dandruff or is it just flaky skin from a dry scalp.
I've a cosmetologist, been one for years and I see so many clients coming in, saying they have dandruff and its just that their scalp is incredibly dry.
Most people don't know the difference between dandruff and dry scalp issues.

I just thought I'd ask because if it is a dry scalp, head and shoulders will (probably) only make it worse.

  • I'm quite sure... My hairstylist addressed it

  • if its really bad you need to see a doctor they can prescribe good medicated shampoos
  • one thing you can do which will help with it is to use a clarifying shampoo. What you do is wash your hair rinse and then use a small amount of clarifying shampoo again leave it on your scalp for a minute or 2 - finish washing up or whatever - rinse and when you add conditioner DONT put it on your scalp more than once a week. after a few times of this process you should see a HUGE difference, I was heard about this at my salon and gave it a try omg it has made such a differnce. Good luck
  • Thanks so much!! all of the advice I'm taking in because I want to have great hair and scalp!!

  • I've strugged with dandruff, too :( Head and Shoulders works so-so, but I prefer this Kenra shampoo. It's a bit of a slurge, but a little goes a long way.
