Hair color gone bad..too dark :(

I got my hair colored last Sunday hoping it would be a nice dark-ish brown with just a hint of red, well it turned out blacky red, I don't like it :( and I don't know what to do about it! I talked to the lady that did it and she said it should fade. I normally wash my hair once a week and I've almost been washing it every day to speed up the fading process. It's only been a week but I'm anxious to lighten it up.....any natural home remedies anyone can recommend that has actually worked? My wedding is 9-23-12 so I don't have too much time! My bridal shower is next weekend, I hope I don't scare my guests. Haha

It doesn't look awful, it's just not at a color that I normally have and that's appropriate for me for my wedding...so I hope it will lighten up to something I like or I'll have to go to a salon to have it fixed. I want to wait it out a bit before I do that though, see how it goes with washing it ..

Thanks!

  • You have plenty of time.  Just wash it every day and wait about a month and then go get it coloured.  You can probably wait til the week or two before the wedding to do it.  Anddd maybe don't go back to that same lady lol

  • the more it is washed the faster it will fade. so shower every day and when your in the shower wash your hair twice. possibly try a deep conditioning treatment. like one of those conditioners you have to leave on for like 20 minutes. because it goes so deep into your hair follicles it might pull some of the color out.
  • i am a hairstylist, you can try washing with sunlight ONCE. do not do it anymore it will take away the darkness.
  • When washing your hair, use a clarifying shampoo, it will help strip the color faster. I'm also a cosmetologist.

  • I just colored my hair and it turned about double as dark as I wanted and I lighted it up with 1 part fresh lemon (I used 2 lemons) to 3 part good conditioner (I really like Dove Intensive Care...not sure if anyone else thinks that is "good") mix it well and apply it to dry hair, coat well and leave it on for a half hour. I had to do it twice...a few days apart. It lightened a few shades and I really liked the change.

That makes about a cup of conditioner mix. My hair is thick and almost to the middle of my back and it is more than enough.
