Hairstyle / veil ideas for this dress

I went to my hair trial this past Saturday and my hairdresser did a half up half down stye with a ton of tight spiral curls.  I was picturing something a little softer, with loose waves and my hair down since I don't usually wear it that way.

I am at a total loss and am a little nervous because I did not like the hair style and my hairdresser was also adamant that I not wear a veil because it is not "me".  I have been going to her for four years, but I kind of think that a wedding is the only time and place in my life I WOULD wear a veil...so...I'm not sure.

Any pics or reccommendations would be greatly appreciated.  I have another trial scheduled for next week...and I'd like to bring in some pictures so I don't get pushed into a style I'm not totally on board with just because I don't have any better ideas.

Also, I am trying not to do anything too puffy as I am 5'10 and my fiance is 5'6 and I don't want to appear overhpowering next to him on the altar lol

Do you already have a veil?  If so, bring it with you to the next trial.  And tell your hairdresser the same thing you said here,  I was picturing something a little softer, with loose waves and my hair down since I don't usually wear it that way.

Have you thought about an old Hollywood glam style? The styles are soft and romantic and easy to dress up with a pin or comb. Plus you still get the option of wearing your hair down. It is the perfect combination of classic and on-trend.
