Anyone have Verizon Fios?

TV and Internet in particular?

DH and i were looking into switching over from DirecTV, and adding on the Internet.  I know I've heard lots of talk about hidden charges - does anyone have any more detail on that? Will we be seeing some significant increase over what their website is quoting us?

Switching to all Verizon will save us about $40/month over keeping DirecTV and picking up Internet through Comcast or DirecTV, so we're leaning heavily in switching over.

Thoughts? Bad or good?  Thanks!

I don't have it... sorry. But I have heard that the original price is really good- but you only get that price for 6 months or a year. So maybe look into that and see if they do anything like that?

My sister has Verizon FIOS for tv and Internet.  She's been happy with it.  Not sure about cost, but I can't imainge her paying a ton of extra fees and not complaining about it.

I have FiOS and love it.  I personally think that the quality is better.  Some people may differ!  I think that our HD channels come in clearer than with Comcast.  Our internet is the same  as it was through comcast, I can't say it is any faster.

I also love the fact that if you DVR something on one TV you can watch it on another (not sure if Direct or Dish worked that way but comcast didn't).  You also have to have a receiver for each tv or it won't work.  i.e., we have a "big box" for our tv in our bedroom and livingroom but a small converter for our kitchen.  It is only an extra $5.00 a month for the smaller box but if you don't have it, you won't get any reception unless you have the HD antenna.  Our kitchen TV is not HD.

We don't have home phone service but our bill runs us (with HBO added - two boxes (one being HD) and the smaller box) is $130.00 a month. Which was significantly cheaper than what we were paying with Comcast.

    HTH!

We switched from comcast to Fios in May of last year and love it!  When everyones cable was out bc of the snow storm we still had cable.  We pay somewhere around $100 for internet and tv.  We have 2 flat screens so we had to upgrade to the HD package.  Hope this helps.  I def. like Verizon Fios better than the other companies.

Thanks!  We were quoted around $130 for the package that we chose - so it sounds like that's what we should actually get charged.  That is our biggest concern with everything we've heard.  I know there's a 2 year commitment, but we had that with DirecTV as well, so that's not a big deal.

How long have you had it - have you seen any price increases after so long?

Oh - and one more question - Fios is not satelllite, is that correct?  If it is then ordering it now would be a waste, since there's no way they would get to our roof until the snow's melted.

We've had FiOS for almost a year.  Prices have remained the same.
