Venue decoration

Our venue is pretty bare and needs a lot of "sprucing up" to look as nice as I expect.  I found a picture of our venue with an illusion canopy (basically fabric hanging from the ceiling).  I just wanted opinions as to whether this is something worth doing (and any ideas on how I could DIY).

I don't know if I would do white (since EVERYTHING else is white), and I probably wouldn't do the icicle lights since it won't be winter.  I was thinking I could do lighted hanging lanterns instead.

That and uplighting would be great! I'm kind of nervous because my venue is a 'blank canvas' too but luckily I have a 'David Tutera' friend of mine who's my WP

I think that'll look great! And I agree with Kat that uplighting would look amazing with it! I also like your idea of the hanging lanterns  I have no idea how to DIY though :-/

We have a really high ceiling at our venue like yours and we are doing uplighting. I think it would look great.

I don't think I'd personally hang anything. I think for uch a big space you'd really have to put up a lot of lanterns. And then if you do too few it'll look empty. I think I'd turn off all the lights and do all uplighting to create a more intimate feel. Candles on th table, etc.

I think the uplighting will look great, mine's in a tent so I completely understand the whole all white thing.  I was thinking of doing lanterns for mine also that might be a really good idea also or instead.
