Love it when FIL's & parents bond!

So some of us were talking about this on another thread, but do your FIL's and parents click?

I was extremely lucky: FIL's and parents met NYs and our dads were identical and our moms were identical and all clicked!

So excited for Saturday: taking my parents over to FIL's a couple of hours away. We're going to take the boat out on the river and hang out by Silver Spring...our parents all love being outside and so do we...funny thing is they're all stoked to go to Golden Corral for dinner....FUNNY!

Hope it all goes great.  My parents haven't met FI's yet.  Well his dad lives in California and mom lives here.  Honestly his dad is a major ****** and his mom kinda gets on my nerves at times.  As mad as I am at my parents at the moment they are still way cooler.  Personally I don't think the two would get along.

Our parents HATED each other (the first 4.5 years we were together)...it was horrible!  His mom said that my dad had made a totally-not-in-character comment during a get together when they were playing cards...it was so bad we had 2x house warming, bday cookouts, etc.
 
Finally we said "ENOUGH!" and somehow it's shaken out, though I still think my dad and his mom still harbor some hard feelings between them, however, it's no longer our problem as long as they can be nice to each other when need be.

Things seem to be going well now...

Ours have met once this past summer when my family was at the beach. His faimly lives at the beach so we all went out to dinner. It went really well. Our dads are both pastors, so they talked about church stuff the entire time and that seemed to go well. Our moms probably wouldn't be best friends but they get along and don't find anything wrong with each other.

Its a pretty good situation. Our families live 1000 miles apart so its not like they will be together much.

My dad and his dad get along. However, my mother and his mother do not get along with anyone...so they tend to have to be handled separately.

It's really tough to say though because all four of our parents are very, VERY independent people and are not sociable at all. It's been interesting to say the least...

Our parents met for the first time about 2 years ago, FI and I had been dating for about a year and a half. Our parents live about 6 hours apart so they don't get together very often, maybe twice a year...? We still haven't had a dinner with just the 6 of us, someone else always tags along. I would say that our parents get along when they get together.

My mother and his mother are like the exact same person so they definitely get along.  Right after we got engaged we had a dinner with both sets of parents and it went very well.  Everyone got along which was great

It is nice! My Mom and my FMIL get along really well! We have her over for dinner all the time, sometimes without the FI when he's at work.
