Any of you girls having trouble finding vendors? We have hard a horrible time finding people open. I went through 10+ venues that were booked, the cake lady was booked and the dj was also booked. People are on top of it!

My original date was the 26th.  And nope didn't have a problem finding Vendors at all.  But I also started booking everything back in Feb 2011.  Holiday weekends fill up fast.

I'm a Memorial day weekend bride!  I'm not much help to you though since I booked my venue in October (and our first choice date was already taken!).  Venues do book up very quickly, but I would imagine that there has to be at least 1 place you'll like that is still available. Do more research, get as many names of places as you can, and maybe ask on your local board for more ideas too. Call to find out if your date is still available and then go look at the venue and meet with the coordinator as soon as possible... waiting even a few days might mean losing the venue to another bride! I haven't had any troubles. Only had heard about one vendor that was booked but she wasn't my first choice anyway. But now I'm scared, I may have to email my DJ prospect now.

P.S.-  I don't think you'll have any problem finding a DJ or baker eventually. Those vendors don't book nearly as fast as venues do. Don't give up!

we actually already booked our venue after going through 10+ places. I was just stating something I noticed while seeking out vendors I thought I was on top of booking but apparently not.

I'm also know it has to do with areas. In Akron, Ohio, we don't have much especially outdoor wise. Oh Akron, I love you!

The hard past is, is that I work in the wedding industry so I know a lot of the vendors which makes me even more picky! But you're right, I won't have trouble finding vendors :) My neighbor is a florist so I already have that one picked out lol neighbor discount please? ;)

Congrats on finding the venue!  Any pics to share? 

The only vendors I've had a problem with being booked already (other than venues) is florists, which we started looking for last month.

I haven't had any trouble yet.  Our photographer told us we're the first couple she booked for 2012, and I didn't have much trouble with venues.  However, I did choose the first venue we looked at because I love it so much!  We had to wait a few months for them to release the date to us (it's a performing arts center, so plays, recitals, musical acts, etc. take first priority), but it ended up working out. 

If you're having trouble finding a venue, try to think outside the norm, i.e. stay away from hotels and reception halls; you're much more likely to find a place that way.  Does your county have a website?  Milwaukee county has one, and they list all the county/state owned properties that can be rented.  Just a thought.

I think that it depends on where you plan to get married too, I am not getting married on Memorial Day weekend but weddings where we are getting married book a year in advance or more from May until September, this is called "wedding season."

Hi there! I am a Memorial day weekend bride and having my wedding in Akron too! How funny. My reception site is the Sheraton Suites in Cuyahoga Falls. That is the only think I have set in stone. I'm really close to picking my photographer and DJ. I hope when I actually make the decision they won't be booked. This makes me nervous. Keep me posted how you are doing.
