May 2012 Weddings

Kinda irritated..yet at the same time understanding.. (and i need advice!)

I had scheduled 3 meetings this week.. now none of which happened....2 i had to cancel cuz i got called into work..now the one i was REALLY looking forward too tomorrow. the lady is sick..and cant make our meeting...:-(  Soo...the next 2 weeks of work is CRAZY busy..so i will have to put off meeting with these ppl for anohter 2-3 weeks..:-( so much for being ahead!!

AND the one for tomorrow (photography) i had planned on going with her anyways ( as long as we got along)..but now i have my neighbor probably doing my photography cuz she is just starting out, but she has amazing work, and did her brothers wedding ( and i have seen the pics they are great!!)...
so should i still schedule meetings with other photographers for ideas..or just not make meetings?? idk what the RIGHT thing to do is..

  • never hurts to get some ideas
  • i would definitely go ahead and schedule the meetings.  It is always nice to talk to other vendors to see what they offer (who knows it might help you get ideas).  Even if your neighbor does great work, make sure you know exactly what you are paying for (and get it in a contract).  Also, I will tell you to find out if you get the copyrights to the pictures from one or the other.  My photographer does offer that, and that will take a lot off of your final bill.  If you can print the pics yourself instead of ordering them, you will save a ton of money!!  Good luck deciding!

  • I would schedule them. Photography is expensive, but it is one of the most important parts of a wedding. See what their costs are and compare.

  • My neighbor isnt charging...but ill pay her anyways..and ill get the rights to the photos as well. This is such a big decision!!
  • We're kinda doing the same thing. A girl I went to high school with is just starting up a photography company and she's probably going to end up being our photographer. She's doing our engagement pics next month and depending on how we like those, we'll ask her to do the wedding. She's only charging us $76 without prints for the engagement pics!

  • It never hurts to talk to a few vendors to get ideas, etc. I did and it brought my photog's price down due to 'comparison shopping ' ;)

  • I think it's worth having the meetings.... you can get some really great ideas from them and maybe find something you LOVE and have to have. It doesn't hurt... and I don't think waiting two more weeks will really be the end of the world... .just take a deep breath and try to relax! It will all work out! :)
