Reality....

I got to talk to my fiance for a little bit this morning (he's deployed overseas) and I can't stop shaking.... Last night, while he was on duty (he does convoy security), they were escorting a bus back to base and while on the highway an unidentified SUV stopped in the middle of the road and the men approached his vehicle and the bus they were escorting. They were trying to get on the bus and when that attempt failed (due to another guy standing at the door pointing his weapon at him) they chased them down the road yelling at them the whole way before giving up!

This is the first (that I've heard) of anything like this happening to Tim and the men he is with over there. I am so scared and the reality just hit me of where he is. Let me clarify that.... I've known since he left in November where he was going but for the most part he's been relatively safe given the circumstances. Now that this happen I feel all panicky and there is nothing I can do about it. I know that he is going to come home safe but if something were to happen to him I'd be lost forever.

If you could please take a moment out of your day to say a quick pray for Tim and all of our troops who are risking everything to keep us safe. Only 3.5 months until he's home safely!

  • I prayed for him and you and all of the troops. You are such a strong woman for sticking through this! I can't imagine what it is like, but your FI is a hero! Keep your head up :)

  • I will definitely keep your FI in my thoughts. It must be so difficult for you having him so far away :( I would suggest going on the Military Brides message board where a lot of the women are in or have been in a similar situation as you, they can probably offer great advice on how to deal with a deployed FI/DH.

  • I will say a prayer and continue to pray for him and our troops. My FI is now out of the military (though not officially until July of this year... he did serve 4 years in) but he's a Marine and he has told me some of the stuff he went through over those 4 years. Really puts a reality into it all.

I'm sure your FI will come home safely. :)
  • I totally understand your pain... my baby brother spent 18 months over there and we had more than one scare. It doesn't help that he isn't the best with communicating with us so we'd often hear about things over the news or through another soldier.

Keep your head up and I'll be sure to keep you in my prayers.

  • I can totally relate to how scary that is.  My FI has been on 3 combat deployments and is deploying again soon.  I'm going to say a prayer for you and your fiance.
