P90x

Has anyone tried it?

FI and I know quite a few people who have done it and swear by it. He ended up ordering it for us and we plan on starting it Monday. I'm excited and scared at the same time haha.

I'm just wondering if anyone has done it and knows what to expect. (I expect a whole lot of pain lol)

Re: P90x

  • I still have it and have done it. I am doing Insanity now.
I will say that both of these workouts are NOT for beginners to working out and if you are, just take it easy; you're still working even if not at high intensity :)

You need more 'equipment' with P90x than Insanity which is why I switched.

    GL, Hope that helps! :)

This.  I did only half of the P90X plyometrics video the first time around, and my legs hurt for 3 days!  Definitely start slow if you aren't used to it, and don't do as many reps as they do when you first start out; work up to that amount gradually.  I'm doing P90X and the C25K program (I usually alternate between the two), and it's been going great!  I feel like I have so much more energy, and I definitely notice I'm getting back the tone in my legs and abdomen. :)
  • I deff think I could be in better shape to start off with but I'm pretty good about knowing when enough is enough for my body so I know I wont feel the need to keep up with them the first time around. I'm kind hoping that's what motivates me tho to keep up with it.

klw0022 just the fact that it's name is "insanity" scares me!!!

If I stop posting after Monday at least you'll know what happened to me! lol ;)

  • I do P90x abs every once in a while (I don't work out that regularly) and it KICKS my ass (or my abs) every time. I end up sore to the point that it hurts to get out of bed for about a week.... like PP said, ease into it, it's not for beginners!

    <div>Haha, right!

</div><div>I am a 5k-er and love lifting weights but hit a plateau a little over a month ago. I need something to rev up my performance. (and I'm no oldie, but turning 30 definitely changes your body and fatigue) so I tried Insanity and I will say that it IS insane but I LOVE it! It's a 60 day program (I did week 1 twice to ease into it) and I'm on week 3 (my week 4) and it's easier each day I do it...a great challenge!</div><div>
</div><div>Def enjoy P90x and yes, the Ab ripper x video is only 15 minutes but brutal!</div>

  • I have Insanity as well.  I have done p90x, but I like that with insanity you don't need any equipment.

I stopped doing Insanity though.  It was too much with the long runs I've been doing for my marathon training.  My legs would be so sore for my runs and I couldn't push as hard, and then My legs would be so sore from my runs it hurt to do insanity lol.  Because I was doing insanity in the mornings and running at night it was too much because my body never got a break.

I think you'd be fine doing P90x.  Its not for beginners, no, you might not be able to do it all and you might have to take breaks, you just have to have the motivation to keep doing it.  THe day you "take a day off"  is the day you start going downhill lol

  • I did P90x and loved it.  I finished the 90 days and now rotate through my favorite weeks.  I was sore to begin with but got past it.  One thing I wished someone had warned me about is that a lot of people gain weight the first couple of weeks.  I gained around 5 lbs in the first few days but quickly took that back off in week 2.  People say it's because of increased water weight from working out and injuring so many different muscle groups at once.  Not sure if that is actually the case but it really freaked me out to begin with
  • FYI - If you want something more for a beginner, try Power90.  Thats what they made before P90X.  I was definitily a beginner when I started and it was tough for me, haha.  I honestly dont think i could have done one day of P90X.  I highly reccomend Power90, but I have to say Tonys voice starts to get annoying after 90 days ;)  Near the end, I would turn on my ipod and listen to that and turn the volume down on the tv so I wouldn't have to hear him.
