Re: 30 Day PIP Inspiration Challenge: Day 18

  • I've got a whole lot of theme going on in my head, but I'm trying to stream-line my thoughts...

My overall theme is "Rustic Elegance"... FI and I love country music and the idea of "country" in general, but our guests do not share our sentiments. We also want to emphasize the importance of the Church in our wedding and our relationship, but I don't want to overdo that either, because half of our guests are not Catholic (or really practice any religion for that matter). Our reception site is very colonial and pastoral, so it fits well with the theme.

    Grounds:

After someone posted about a wedding saying, Sabrina mentioned someone using "Forver and Ever, Amen" which I love, because it captures the religious importance of matrimony, and is a phrase from a country song. I'm not sure how far I'll take the country theme, but I am thinking about getting some cute boots, and maybe using horseshoes in the reception decor...

  • Well, we are doing a sort of vintage peacock theme.  I really love the photos from this wedding:

  • Mine I would say is modern shabby chic.

  • Our official theme is 'starry night,' although nothing will shout that out to anyone, no big stars or moon or anything.  Its more the color scheme and how I want everything to look.  Everything will be fairly simple.  Its all about ambiance to me.  Not a lot of decoration, the lights and candles will set  the mood.

    This was my inspiration:

    The tables:

Cafe lights over the reception area (we're having the wedding at my folks house, on their property.  Ceremony will be in the grassy area, which will be converted to lawn game areas after and reception in the tennis court area.  Both will have cafe lights strung across for good lighting.

A few, not sure how many yet, of these paper lanterns over the dance area only.

Twinkle lights all over the trees in the pool area, on the fence of the tennis court and the trees in the grassy area.

In the pool area, which is fenced (no children allowed), will be the bar area and some seating.  In the pool, will have floating water lily lights and candles surrounding the pool so no one falls in (hopefully ;) we will have luminaries along the edge).

And for our centerpieces, I've gone back and forth, but I think I really want something like this, I think it will really compliment the rest of the lighting.

We're going with a vintage hollywood feel. The ceremony is going to be held in a restored theater on stage with tons of candles. The reception will be upstairs in the ballroom with even more candles and romance.
Thats a picture of what the ceremony site looks like (taken from the stage)

. The picture doesn't do it justice but its absolutely beautiful.
