Sometimes I hate being a girl!

Good morning and happy Thursday! I hope you are all having a great one!

I just have to vent that sometimes I hate being a girl. Yes, I'm speaking to the stupid monthly visitor that comes (indeed some may think this is TMI) ... my key monthly symptoms:
- water retention ( I feel like a cow ) and being super sensitive

I swear I'm usually bubbly and happy and carefree; today I woke up feeling fat, groggy, moody... :(

  • Girl I know how you feel.  I wanted to rip out my ovaries yesterday.  My cramps were so bad I just wanted to curl up into the fetal position and not move for the rest of the day.

  • DO you have to have had a child to get an IUD.  Because thats what I have wanted but never asked about it because that is what I always heard.  I would love not to have my period.

That's what I heard too. Right now Im just on Orthotrycyclin Lo and it's a lot milder than other BC I've tried, but I just wish I didn't have the moodies/emotional symptoms of PMS..grr

(Sidenote: LOL, I'm sure used to the Knot acrynyms I was like "what's IUD mean in Knottie language???)

  • I always get really sensitive during that time of the month. I haven't had any cramps since I've been on the pill though.

  • I think you have to have it implanted while you're on your period if you havent had a child before. But for sure worth asking about I know Marina is used a lot to treat women who have very heavy or long periods. The only warning i can find says it shouldt be used on the elderly or on anyone who is premenstral.

A girl in my lab got an IUD put in and she's never had a kid.  IDK if she was on her period, but then again I didn't ask.  I do know that they had to give her meds to dilate her...and she said the pain was HORRIBLE for the first few days after they put it in.  She said it was still worth it, though.

I was on Nuva Ring for a while, which is nice because you only have to remember to put in and take it out.  It also really helped with my cramps (which used to keep me in bed all day).  However, I've recently stopped taking it because it effed up my hormones to the point that I needed to be on anti-depressants and anxiety meds.  NO THANK YOU.  I would rather have the cramps once a month than feel like a frickin' crazy person all the time!

  • OMG. I hate when its even around that time of the month. I get soooo emotional for weeks at a time. Its crazy. I start to feel like a crazy woman. I hate it. And then I start to get paranoid about my relationship because my emotions are ridiculous and I overanalyze everything.. wow. maybe I'm just crazy.... eesh

  • Ugh I can relate. I usually get bad cramps the first day and for a few days before I break out and get pimples (which I never get otherwise) and I usually cry alot or get angry easily. FI ALWAYS knows when my period is coming though. And it makes me so mad when he's right. :p

As for the IUD the thing about having kids--its' because they have to get past your cervix to incert it...which is easier to do with a woman who has had a baby, othersise it can be a bit more painful. I looked into getting one a while ago. I don't know if it with help with the moodieness though...and the drs never said anything about having to be on your period when they incert it --actually I'm pretty sure they wont incert it then, think about a PAP, you can't be "on" for that...but they do give you a dialation pill :) Hope this helps clarify some things for those who are looking at it :)

  • I have an IUD and I've never had a baby -- you DO have to be on your period when they insert it (unless you've had a baby..because your cervix is naturally more dialated). The whole thing about having a baby already is because like 25+ years ago there was a problem with IUDs and they could have potentially harmed the women who had them -- they fixed that now.

I really like my IUD...it's a copper one..so no horomones. It really helps because your body naturally regulates your horomones and you'll have an easier time concieveing when you want a baby in the future! The pill was really only designed so that a woman would only be on it for 5 years max. It lowers your horomones and puts you in a menapausal state..so your emotions are crazy (think your mom when she was going through menopause) and you gain a ton of weight around your period. no horomones is the way to go!!

  • So being on an IUD, and not having your period, doesn't that mess you up somehow? or no? I am going to be 31 this year and we want to try to start having a family 8 mos to a year after we're married so wondering what to do...

Is that pain horribly bad?? :/
    Follow Me on Pinterest
  • hey girl..sorry i didnt see this till now. The copper IUD doesn't have horomones..so you get your period every month -- which you SHOULD do! not having your period is really really bad....(no period = having menopausal level horomones...meaning bad). but..if you want to have a baby asap you really should just stay on birth control and then get off about a month after you get married. it'll probably take a while for your body to go back to normal.
