Bouquets and things....

So this afternoon I was searching various flower shop websites in my area to get an idea for bouquets and such when I came across a flower shop website in the area that actually listed prices on their site. Most places just show pictures of whats been done in the past and then you call to set up an appointment. My jaw hit the floor when I saw the price on a beautiful bouquet of white gardenias.... It was $722!!!!!!!! I could NOT believe that it cost that much!! Is this normal for a wedding bouquet to cost that much?? I've never bought flowers before so I have no idea what to expect but I think I might have a heart attack if those are the prices I should be expecting!!!

Re: Bouquets and things....

  • Surprised lets just hope not! i have never seen it that high!
  • I've had a bunch of appointments with florists lately. Pricing depends on what's in season/how hard is it to find the flower. I've been quoted around $100 to $150 for a bridal bouquet of orchids, hydrangeas, other flower names that I can't remember, and bear grass loops. And the bridesmaid bouquets are closer to $50 or $60. If someone actually told me a bouquet would be $700+, I'd laugh and then walk out of the store.
  • $722?!?!?! Wow Wow Wee Wow!!!! I would definitely look around more at some other flower shops... I am not sure how much our flowers are going to run us yet but I don't want to know if those are the prices.... I agree with PP laugh and walk out if that's how much your bridal bouquet is going to cost you...

  • That sounds a bit crazy lets hope that, that was a typo for $72!

  • That is really steep, but I used to work in a flower shop, and I do know that gardenias are one of the most expensive flowers, even when they are in season.

I didn't even want the bouquet! I just couldn't believe that it was that expensive for flowers... that are going to die. I'll definitely be finding another florist that is for sure!!!

  • Aren't Gardenias really expensive?  I could be wrong, but I thought they were like $8 per stem.

Regardless, most bridal bouquets run $85-150ish and bridesmaids $50-80ish.  For our wedding, my florist is doing my bouquet (with some more exotic flowers) for $85, a free toss bouquet, $45 BM bouquets, and $25/per table centerpieces.

  • That is insane! I didn't even spend more than $300 on all my bouquets and decorations for the entire ceremony and reception! And they're all silks!

That is crazy! The price range I got for my bouquet was $90-$225.  Flowers were important to me and I was willing to spend quite a bit on them, but I would never pay that much for one bouquet.

  • Yea it depends on your area, and if the flowers are in season or not.
