Anyone know where I can find....

So, I am in search for a shallow box that I can fill with sand like this:

My escort cards will be starfish.

I have searched a number of places: Michael's, Target, Pier I, and even an unfinished furniture store. The box needs to be solid, no handle cut outs. I am not picky on color because I can always paint it if need be. Anyone have any suggestions?

Have you tried Hobby Lobby? I know they have several shadow boxes. You may have to take the front "glass" off but I think you could make it work.

What about Home Goods or Christmas Tree Shop?

That is a really awesome idea for escort cards!

I would try Walmart or Target.  I have several similar boxes (albeit they are a little bit smaller) I use to store spices, and I bought them from Walmart on the cheap.

I've tried Hobby Lobby, Target, Michael's, TJ Maxx, Pier I. I found some online, but they're priced at more than $50, which is crazy for something to put sand in and I am not certain if it's something I can use again. Of all the stupid things to "need."

maybe if you got in a crunch and couldn't find a wooden box you could use a lid to a cardboard box.  like the box the printer paper comes in?  then you could spraypaint it to make it not look like cardboard?  ehh?  that may work if you're stuck at the last minute.

What if you went to Lowe's, Home Depot, or any craft store and got Balsa wood and made them yourself?  Balsa wood is very light weight (like what model airplanes are made out of).  If the store won't cut it in the lengths you need, you can cut it yourself with a kitchen knife (or razor knife).

Its still strong enough to hold together with glue and it isn't flexible (unless you get really thin stuff).  It comes in different thickness, and shouldn't be too expensive.

I am using the same idea for my wedding. My dad is making one for me. I think it would be very easy and cheap to make. You could buy a couple pieces of wood at Lowe's (which I think they would even cut for you). Glue or nail a simple box together and paint whatever color you want. I can't imagine it would cost too much to make yourself.

This!  You just need your deminsions and Lowe's or Home Depot can guide you throught the rest.  You can use craft glue if the wood is light enough, since they won't be moved or stressed a lot.  You might even be able to Google something on how-to-do it yourself!

I'm sure you could find those at a lot of places! I would check Hobby Lobby first! If they don't have what you're looking for, I'd try Target or Michael's. GL!
