I'm working on mine now but when do I send them out??

I was thinking a year in advance to give people time to plan, we're not having a destination wedding in the bahama's but it is at least 2 hours away from where everyone lives and it's at a resort so the option to have a room for the night is there.

Any suggestions?

About 1/2 of our guests have to travel about 5 hours to the wedding and we will be sending our STDs in September. We are including a link to our wedding website where we will have all of the travel information they will need.

Usually STDs go out about 6-9 months before the wedding.

IMO, I would wait till at least June. That way people dont just see May and think that they have like a week before the wedding. I know if I sent out something in May, people would freak out thinking they missed the wedding.

I've also read 6-9 months.  I'm thinking of sending mine out in September.

Half of our family will be traveling so we are going to send ours the end of june to give them plenty of time.

We're doing 1 year out since we're having a DW and then AHR after, so you're spot on

I would say 7-9 months is a good time if it's not a holdiay weekend or a destination wedding.. We're sending ours out earlier (in June) since it's on Memorial day weekend.  (we're waiting until June for the same reason that Sunshine3714 mentioned- we don't want people to look at it and think that the wedding is in 2 weeks, haha)

I am sending mine out the end of June or July. If a lot of guests are traveling, they need time to plan, and take time off. A couple months won't make a difference, so if you have them ready by May or June, send them out.. your guests won't look that into it like we do!

That's a good point -- my wedding is the same weekend as yours is.  I figured holidays would make it easier for those traveling to come into town, but other people (unlike myself <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-tongue-out.gif" border="0" alt="Tongue out" title="Tongue out" />) have lives and plan things for holiday weekends, so I should probably send mine out in June as well.

I'm sending mine out at the beginning of June. Everyone will be traveling for our wedding and will need to start saving.. we aren't inviting all our family (and they know) so we need to let those who will be invited know.
