Need input please!

Ok...My main color is coral...i have accents of white and blues (light and dark).  I wanted my  BM dresse to be coral but davids bridal doesnt have it. I was upset with this because they had it last year. (ahh!) so i just went to Alfred angelo, but the cheapest dress in that color is $175, and thats ridiculous, especially since my BMs dont have money. They all said they will pay that much if they have to, after all it is my day, not theirs. BUT i feel bad if i make them spend just about $200 for a dress, and not including alterations. Soo...i was talking to someone today, and they suggested silver, that way i can get the cheaper dresses at davids bridal. I really love that idea!! I found a dress for $149, and my FIs Aunt said she can do the alterations if it is minor. .

What are you ideas? I do like the idea of silver, and i think the girls could wear the dress again since its not coral. But i have always dreamed of my BMs wearing coral...idk....

Also, originally I told my BM that they can pick any dress it just has to be the same fabric/color..but the more i think about it..i think i do want them matching..is it wrong to change?

  • I like the silver idea. BUT is it silver or charcoal? Just be sure that you are okay with your BM's dresses looking very close to white. Also, I think it is fine for you to change your mind about having them all wear the same dress, because none of them have bought a dress yet, so they should be fine with it.

I think the silver will look great with your color scheme. Maybe you can find a silver dress with a coral sash or something so that you still get a bit of the color you want. And I agree with Sabrina that it's ok to change your mind on wanting them to match, as long as none of them have bought a dress yet.

  • I think if you were set on your bridesmaids wearing coral and the price different is $25, it's not really that much different. Could you help by paying $10 or $15 to get the color you really want them to have if you think the price is to high for them on their own?

  • I'm having the same issue with David's Bridal; I really don't like any of the colors for the BM dresses. So, I plan on giving the girls some money toward their dresses. I don't want them to have to spend more than $150 on the dress, so if I choose a dress that costs $200, I'll give each girl $50 dollars toward the dress. I'd have to cut back on something else to afford to do that for them, but it would be worth it. Maybe you could do something like this if you decide to go with a more expensive dress?

  • If these are your only options, for $25, get the color you want! I had the same problem with Davids and Alfred Angelo not having my color. I ended up getting dresses from The Limited. They were $90, but because of sales and coupons, the girls only paid $40. Coral is in right now, so you may be able to find a dress in a non-bridal store that will be cheaper.

  • My friend went through the exact same problem a couple of years ago.  She talked about changing her colors but you could tell she really really wanted the coral.  I talked her into waiting and looking around at some other options.  She ended up finding a coral that she loved at some random place she never even thought of looking in.

You've got a good 6-8 months before you have to buy something.  I would wait and look around this spring/summer.  That color is going to spring up somewhere!  Worse comes to worse you can go with a different color.  What about an off-white or blue with a coral colored sash?  Don't know how against the bridesmaids wearing white you are, but I think it would look cute!

  • The thing is..i live in a small town...Davids bridal and Alfred angelo are 45 minutes away..and the bridal stores near me i looked at with my sisters wedding..and they were dirty..and i wouldnt trust  buying from them....

I know i have awhile so im not really worried yet. Im just looking around for ideas.
  • I think the silver would look awesome!
