Tip for hair stylist?

How much do you tip your hair stylist, percentage-wise?  Not wedding related, just regularly.  I can never remember what the proper suggested amount is.

I tip about 20% for hair, 10% for eyebrow wax, 15% nails (mani/pedi) and 15-20% if I have anything else waxed.  During the holiday season I tip higher.  Why, I have no idea.

This is probably too low, but I tip 15% (just did this yesterday in fact). FWIW, yesterday was only the 3rd time I went to my stylist. I like her, but didn't think she deserved more right away. Maybe I will up my tip next time, since I'm getting to know her a little better, and she's getting used to my hair.

I have worked at a couple different salons here in Pittsburgh and have seen tipping percentages that have ranged all over the place. I've seen from 10% to 50%. I think it has a lot to do with the relationship you have with the person and of course the way you feel about the end result of the service that you received. i think a safe place to be is in the 15-20%. That's just my opinion though.

I always tip 20% not sure what is considered 'right' but that's what I do...

My DH cuts my hair, so I tip him a big 0%. I honestly haven't been to a stylist in 6 years, I know, right?

I think when I did go, I did about 20%.

Oh! I forgot, it is usually best to tip cash to the stylists because a lot of times if you "tip on the card" some salons will take a tiny percentage of the tip to pay for processing.  It's strange but it happens.

Last time I went, he was fantastic and the haircut was cheap, so I tipped 25%.
I usually do a round number, like $10 or $15. Depending on the total cost.
